I hope the energy of the players in WotR changes and I hope the battles are made more authentic, because right now I feel I'm out thirty bucks, and what with the explosion of great games coming out I can't afford to loose money on a duffer. It's more immersive and puts you right in the action. In Chivalry death is more immediate, and dealing death is more rewarding. It seems in their attempt to please that nothing is particularly rewarding to play now. I've no experience in programming so I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be to try to balance gameplay and please gamers, but I'm not really jiving with all the changes made to Roses. I read both forums and the energy on Chivalry is so much more positive. I'm glad the chatbox is removed in that game atm, as I got tired of reading all the hate-ons. Players will use different attacks, blocks and counters insuring that combat is tactical, responsive and of course chaotic. WotR just seems to make people downright ornery. Melee combat in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is more than just hack and slash. ![]() There is definitely flaming going on in both games during play, but in Chivalry it's all in good fun I haven't seen anyone loose their nut completely. Hopefully WotR will be fixed and I'll actually begin to feel like I'm involved in a civil war for the English throne, but it doesn't feel like that at the moment. Also, as another here pointed out, Chivalry gives you a better sense of mortality than WotR. I love the idea of WotR, it's setting and the beautiful armour sets, but currently there does seem to be genuine balance issues, and I'm getting a bit bored of the maps and simple objective play. Plus, Chivalry is just a plain better game. Even the insults in Chiv are in good fun and generate lols. Someone being called an archercampwhore in WotR is VERY different than doing so in Chivalry. They're good natured, helpfull, and frequently hilarious in game. ![]() There's considerable acrimony at even the slightest criticism of the game on the WotR forums, with accusations of noob for very reasonable issues brought up with game balance, lack of maps etc.Ĭontrast this with the Chivalry community, many members of which have been around since it was a HL2 mod. ![]() Krikey, and I thought that I was mean, rude and grumpy ! I'm on the Chivalry forums, but only lurking on the LotR forums for the simple reason that the WotR community are really not pleasant people.
